To riff off of Oscar Wilde,
'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.'
We are all
in the gutter of life.

But some of us

To speak about me and my practice, I want to lead with: I'm right here with you, in life. Not somewhere above or beyond anyone else. Here, like you, doing the best I can, transmuting mistakes into learning as much as possible and, when I can’t, leaning into acceptance.

I situate my work as a therapist in this recognition that I'm on the same level as you. No I-have-this-figured-out, look-how-wise-I-am. No dishing out tidbits from a rarified state.

I mean, I have some of this figured out.

You have some of this figured out, too. And then you forget it. And so you come here to remember it, and add to it, and I’m here to help with that.

I entered the field of psychotherapy with the understanding that my role was to be of benefit to whoever sat in front of me. The task of a therapist was to be diversified, flexible, open, curious,in order to meet a wide variety of people and challenges.

This happily aligned with me, since I’m an inherently curious person who’s dipped into a lot of stuff over the years. Consider a spectrum with Specialist at one end, Polymath at the other: I’m somewhere right of center, not quite a polymath, but definitely in the realm of the Jack of All Trades.

The perks of "master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one,” is having the breadth and depth to synthesize information across a wide swath of areas. It’s finding where bridges exist.

So, yeah: I’m good at meeting people in most experiences, understanding the language of their world, discovering through-lines, and helping them discover new understandings.

I wanted to get that out of the way before I get into who I work with, what my particular trainings are, so that if you don’t immediately see yourself listed, that doesn’t mean you are excluded.
